This June the business celebrated its 10 year anniversary. A huge amount has happened over the last 10 years. We’ve gone from being a 1 man business run from my bedroom, to a team of people working from our own 15,000 square foot retail/warehouse space.
Another thing happened this year, I got married!
My wife and I have lived in London for the last 3 and a half years, and we decided that it was time to move back to the homeland and settle down for a quieter life (of sorts). Part of the motivation was to have a better work/life balance.
At the same time, the business has been growing, and as the sole manager, my responsibilities have been growing. Unfortunately my available time hasn’t grown at the same rate, and it became clear that we needed some help to take the business forward over the next 10 years.
My wife spent the last 3 and half years working in retail buying for a large multi-national in London. During that time she worked on and lead deals worth many millions of pounds for millions of units of product. Although not quite at that level yet, her skillset was perfectly suited for us.
I’m proud to announce that this year, my wife Emma and I agreed that she would join the business as my co-Director. We have very complementary skills, and have different interests. She’s keen to take on and push some of the areas I’m less passionate about, and I love some of the bits she’s not so keen on. Together, I think we make a great team and we’ve got some great ideas and plans to put into place over the coming months and years.
PS Hat tip to the great folks at Inform Direct who make the process of transferring shares to a new shareholder very easy indeed! Love using great products like that.
